The psychological science minor at Lynchburg provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of psychology, giving you a learned scientific perspective on human behavior and mental processes. This minor can complement a broad array of majors, providing a deeper layer of insight into the important facets of human thought, behavior, and emotion.
The curriculum begins with an introduction to psychological science, which provides an extensive overview of the key concepts, theories, and methodologies employed in psychological research and practice. A hybrid course that’s part-lab, part-lecture, it’ll sharpen your perception and evaluation of scientific information.
Students can choose courses that span a wide array of psychological disciplines, such as social psychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, developmental psychology, and abnormal behavior.
Courses like Psychology of Law, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or Psychology of Diversity provide the opportunity to explore the intersections between psychology and different industries or sectors. You can also focus your studies on specific phenomena or conditions through courses such as Sleep and Circadian Rhythms, Child Psychopathology, or Drugs and Behavior.
