Driving Directions

The City of Lynchburg is accessed by two major routes – US 29, which runs north and south, and US 460, which runs east and west.

The University is on US 221, which runs north and south and is known as Lakeside Drive.

Travel Options

Lynchburg Regional Airport (LYH), just minutes from campus, offers flights with American Airlines. Airports in Charlottesville (CHO), Roanoke (ROA), and Greensboro, NC (GSO) are within a two-hour drive.

Kemper Street Station (LYH), located a few miles from campus, provides Amtrak train and Greyhound bus services. The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC) also offers bus service to the University of Lynchburg via Route 12 on weekdays and Route 12X on weekends.

Local Hotels

The Lynchburg tourism website, LynchburgVirginia.org, provides a comprehensive hotel and lodging options list. You’ll also find a calendar of local events and information on the area’s historical and other places of interest, dining, and shopping.

During certain times of year, like Homecoming and Commencement, accommodation can be more challenging. Book well in advance if you are visiting during these times.
