City Life
Lynchburg, Virginia. We love to call it home. So will you.
Every great university has a great city.
We’ve got the college town vibe down with our up-and-coming arts and music scene, our athletic outdoorsiness, and our ability to simply slow down a little and take it all in.
Lynchburg has been ranked as a top "College Town" and one of the "Happiest and Healthiest Cities in America."
Meet at the downtown riverfront.
A great downtown is right here. Get downtown by car, bus, or by rails-to-trails.
Explore local eateries, independent shops, and museums. Rent a bike and hit the trail, or enjoy a live show.
Enjoy big events like Get Downtown or First Fridays. Or, just relax on the Bluffwalk and riverfront.
Here, you’ll always find something new to explore and friends to experience it with.
Lynchburg is a top adventure town.
It’s with good reason. Within a short drive you can find yourself at 4,000 feet, taking in the wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains, hiking at the Devil’s Marble Yard (watch out for rattlesnakes), or cooling off under a waterfall.
Our students can camp at Claytor Nature Center at no cost. Wintergreen Resort is great for snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking in the spring. Oh, and Virginia’s most-popular lake is nearby with beaches, boats, and waterslides.
Amazingly runner friendly
Lynchburg has a large and diverse running community. Our campus connects to 10 miles of running trails along Blackwater Creek and the James River.
We are walking distance to the starting line of the world-class Virginia 10 Miler.
These are big reasons why Lynchburg City was named a “Runner Friendly Community.”
An up-and-coming music scene
Our music scene is really growing. National acts, or small and local, you’ll get what you’re looking for. If performing is your thing, there’s an audience for you. There are plenty of open mics. Maybe, take a risk and try Live Band Karaoke with the Dundees.
