Board of Trustees
“On behalf of the University of Lynchburg Board of Trustees, I welcome you to our University, renowned for going above and beyond in the preparation of students for the rapidly evolving global marketplace.
While we have met the definition of a university for the past 50 years, we now begin the process of including it in our name. Ever mindful of the signature Lynchburg experience that generations of alumni hold dear, the Board of Trustees remains vigilant on maintaining the vibrant, close-knit community that continues to attract new students and is the source of fond memories for alumni.
Vision 2020+ is the strategic plan that provides the framework that will ensure that this signature Lynchburg experience is available to future generations. Through the three areas of emphasis – Engagement, Facilities/Infrastructure, and Stewardship – our primary aspiration is to be nationally recognized for student engagement in the classroom, athletics, and leadership.
Here at Lynchburg, we are the University that Changes Lives.”

Office of the President
“This is a very special campus, a place where students experience rich academic and service opportunities that take them around the world and throughout the region. It is a place where our students see faculty and staff as friends as well as teachers, mentors, and leaders… a place where athletics – varsity and intramural – play an important role in the development of our youth.
Our liberal arts and sciences core curriculum and thriving professional programs promote critical thinking skills, self-confidence, self-esteem, a diverse view of society, and respect for others. The curriculum embraces experiential learning through internships, service to community, study abroad, and leadership opportunities in more than 100 clubs and organizations. Our numerous graduate programs, both at the Masters and doctoral level, provide an opportunity for advanced academic preparation in many important fields of study.
As you visit our institution, you will find a university on the move. Honored as one of only 40 Colleges That Change Lives nationwide, we provide “the intimacy of a college with the reach of a university.” One of our major strengths is a “shared understanding” in the “total education” of our students. It is really one great place to be.”
