The University of Lynchburg is committed to providing an educational and work environment in which no one is excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subject to discrimination in any educational program or activity based on sex or gender identity.
Sexual and gender-based harassment, including sexual violence, are forms of sex discrimination that limit a person’s ability to benefit from or participate in University programs or activities. Sex discrimination is prohibited at the University of Lynchburg.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. All public and private elementary and secondary schools, school districts, colleges, and universities receiving any federal funds must comply with Title IX. Discrimination can include sexual harassment or sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, sexual misconduct, sexual battery, sexual coercion, dating/domestic violence, and stalking.
Please review the Interpersonal Misconduct Policy for more information about the University of Lynchburg’s policy on Title IX and other prohibited conduct. This policy specifically prohibits all forms of sexual and gender-based harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, coercion, complicity, exploitation, and retaliation. The University of Lynchburg will promptly, fairly, and impartially investigate allegations of prohibited conduct to end any discrimination, prevent its recurrence, and, as appropriate, remedy its effects.
Ongoing prevention, training, and awareness programs will be provided to, and at times required of, students and employees to encourage appropriate actions for preventing prohibited conduct and ensuring timely and effective assistance to community members who are impacted by prohibited conduct.
