The Obesity Medicine Certificate at the University of Lynchburg empowers you to make a lasting impact on one of the greatest health challenges of our time. This certificate equips you with the advanced knowledge and practical tools needed to address obesity and its many comorbidities from a comprehensive medical perspective.
Through in-depth coursework on nutrition, pharmacology, and specialized obesity medicine, you’ll learn to develop treatment plans that go beyond symptom management.
This certificate is available through the University of Lynchburg Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program. It serves as an excellent introduction to the doctoral program or can complement and expand your current or previous doctoral studies.

- PA 924: Pharmaceutical Research (3 credits)
- PA 962: Foundations of Lifestyle Medicine (3 credits)
- PA 963: Obesity Medicine (3 credits)
- PA 985: Nutrition and Physical Activity (3 Credits)
and
Total Hours Required: 12*
*For those enrolling in a certificate program who have not previously completed the University of Lynchburg Doctor of Medical Science program, an additional 1-credit doctoral writing course is required.
