Your Journey to Lynchburg Starts Here
At Lynchburg, we believe every learner’s path is unique — and that your homeschool experience has already prepared you to thrive. As you take your next step toward college, we’re here to make the process clear, welcoming, and stress-free. Our goal is simple: help you feel confident as you transition from learning at home to becoming part of our supportive, close-knit community.
Every year, homeschool students from across the country choose Lynchburg because they find a place that values curiosity, independence, and heart. While our admission process follows the same general steps as traditional high school applicants, homeschoolers have a few additional documentation requirements to help us understand your academic journey.

What You'll Need to Apply
Transcripts
We know no two homeschool programs look exactly alike. That’s why we offer a sample transcript to use as a guide — it helps us review your file quickly and fairly, and ensures you get the strongest scholarship consideration possible.
Your transcript should include:
- All completed courses
- Credits, units, or hours for each course
- A letter or numerical grade for each subject
- Courses organized by academic year (9–12)
Final transcripts must also include:
- Graduation date
- A homeschool addendum confirming completion of an education that meets state standards
- A parent/guardian signature (physical or electronic)
Transcripts from umbrella programs (such as Abeka), sent directly from the program, do not require an addendum or signature.
Test scores (CLT, SAT, ACT) are optional for admission but may be considered in the evaluation of merit scholarships.
If you’ve completed a GED, official scores are required. If you’ve earned an associate degree, the transcript/GED requirement is waived.
Suggested High School Coursework
We don’t require specific courses for admission, but we recommend a strong, well-rounded foundation to set you up for success:
- 4 units of English
- 2–3 years of college-prep math
- 2 years of lab science
- 2 years of social science
- 2 years of foreign language
- At least four units of electives
These courses help you build confidence, skill, and momentum as you move into college-level work.
Homeschool Addendum
You won’t need the homeschool addendum until you graduate from high school. For your initial admission decision, we only need transcripts from grades 9–11.
Once you finish high school, your final transcript must include:
- School/homeschool name and contact information
- Your name and date of birth
- A complete course listing with grades and credits
- Graduation date
- A signed statement confirming completion of a standard secondary education aligned with state standards
Additional Documentation
Sometimes our admission committee may request letters of recommendation or supplemental materials to help us better understand your academic background. This is simply part of our commitment to reviewing every student with care and attention.
