As the fall semester comes to a close, the University of Lynchburg is preparing for the start of J-Term, which runs through winter break. Session one starts Monday, Nov. 29, and ends Friday, Dec.17, while session two runs from Monday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.

For undergraduate students following the DELL Curriculum, J-Term is a great opportunity to complete required courses, Dr. Chip Walton, associate provost and dean of general studies, said in a campuswide email.

This winter break, the University is again offering a variety of courses, such as Music Appreciation, Introduction to Film, and Introduction to Visual Art.

“The J-Term schedule … affords you the chance to focus exclusively on one or two classes in a way that may not be possible in the regular academic year,” Walton said.

Graduate students are also encouraged to take this opportunity. Over 20 courses are being offered in the PA Medicine program, as well as in the Master of Business Administration.

Dana Seavey, a graduate student at Lynchburg, took a J-Term class of her own last year. “I really appreciated my J-Term experience because I was able to continue learning and stay connected to Lynchburg, even though I was far away,” she said.

Students may register in advance by Nov. 15 at myLynchburg, or anytime prior to the first day of their J-Term class.
