Families are invited to the University of Lynchburg’s Pediatric Health Fair on Sunday, Oct. 25, from noon to 4 p.m. at the University of Lynchburg Pavilion, which is located behind the Brewer and Rainsford townhouses. The free event will offer children and teens ages 18 and younger a variety of health screenings and games.
“The University of Lynchburg nursing students are showcasing their clinical and leadership skills in organizing their first ever Pediatric Health Fair,” Dr. Elisa Williams Warren, assistant professor of nursing, said.
Nursing faculty and senior nursing students will lead health screenings and hands-on activities designed to make learning about health fun and accessible. Screenings will include blood pressure checks, vision screenings, and scoliosis checks.

“In the U.S., one in five children do not see a healthcare provider annually for well-child visits that are critical for screening for normal growth and development,” Warren explained.
“Lynchburg nursing students will be … screening the children in various aspects of health and wellness while doing preventative education in an engaging way.”
Children can explore healthy habits through interactive lessons on proper handwashing and kindness, along with games focused on movement, coordination, and oxygen levels.
As an added bonus, the first 150 participants to complete all health screenings and visit each educational table will receive a swag bag.
The event is free and open to the public. Campus guests should enter the campus from Lakeside Drive, turn right on Westover Drive, and use parking lots near Turner Gymnasium or the lower lot beside Wake Field House.
