University celebrates Black History Month with concerts, game nights, and lectures

The University of Lynchburg is celebrating Black History Month with a series of events, including several lectures, student game nights, and concerts. Among the highlights of the month is the annual Gospel Concert, which takes place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, in Schewel Hall’s Sydnor Performance Hall.

The University of Lynchburg is celebrating Black History Month with a series of events, including public lectures, student game nights, and concerts. Among the highlights of the month is the annual Gospel Concert, which takes place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, in Schewel Hall’s Sydnor Performance Hall.

The jam-packed month also includes a motivational speech by Claudio Otero III ’20, ’22 MEd on Wednesday, Feb. 7, and virtual Courageous Conversations on Friday, Feb. 9, and Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Cecilia Smith will present the Feb. 9 Courageous Conversation and perform a concert on Saturday, Feb. 10, with LaFayette Harris. Tickets are free for University of Lynchburg students, faculty, and staff. The Black Student Association All Black Party will take place on Friday, Feb. 16, and there’s a keynote address by Ted Delaney on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
