Academic Scholarships and Awards Calculator

Use our online calculator to estimate the amount of scholarships and awards you may be eligible for based on your current academic profile. Scholarships may have different academic expectations than federal, state, and University need-based aid. Should you receive a scholarship, your scholarship letter will indicate the academic standards required for renewal. After your first year, scholarships are renewable for three additional years if renewal eligibility is maintained. You may receive only one of these awards. Transfer students are also eligible for scholarships, and there is a discounted tuition rate for students in our Access program (adult learners age 25 and older).
There are three basic types of financial aid offered by the University of Lynchburg:
  • Federal, state, and University of Lynchburg grants
  • Federal DIrect Loans and alternative loans
  • Federal work study or campus work program (student employment)

The application process is the same for all three types of financial aid. Simply fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and we’ll determine your eligibility.

Additional Info

Scholarships, grants, loans, and student employment are all considered financial aid. Scholarships and grants are sometimes referred to as gift aid or free money. However, because loans must be repaid and student employment must be earned, they are sometimes referred to as self-help. Typically, applicants are offered a financial aid package comprising a combination of awards from various aid programs.

There are several good reasons to work while attending the University of Lynchburg — not only during the summer but also part-time during the academic year. One important advantage is that you can minimize borrowing by earning money for your college expenses. Another is that you’ll acquire skills and valuable experience.
