About
Once your application for financial aid at the University of Lynchburg is complete and you have received your award letter, additional steps may be required before receiving your aid.
If grants and scholarships are part of your financial aid package, no further action is required of you to receive this aid aside from complying with all relevant enrollment and academic progress requirements.

If loans are part of your financial aid package, you can either accept or cancel loans using MyHive. Additional instructions are provided. If your loan is a Direct Loan, you must complete Entrance Counseling and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN), both of which can be done on studentaid.gov.
If employment is part of your award package, you have the opportunity to find a job and work to earn financial support. Employment comes in two varieties: Federal Work Study (FWS) and Campus Work Program (CWP). FWS is need-based aid, while CWP is not.
Check Your Aid Status
Use your MyHive student portal to check the status of your Financial Aid. MyHive is the main way to get information about your financial aid, your disbursement status, accept or cancel loans, and the documents needed to complete your file. You can also regularly check your MyHive to make payments and review any bill changes.
Report Outside Resources Early
You must inform the Solutions Center of money or aid you receive that is not listed on your Financial Aid Award Letter from any organization other than our office. Examples include tuition fee waivers, fellowships, private or state scholarships, Virginia Prepaid, or any awards that pay directly to you.
Enrollment Requirements
University of Lynchburg students must be enrolled at least full-time to receive most types of financial aid. Students who enroll for less than full-time may have their aid adjusted after the drop/add period.
Access and Graduate students are not required to be full-time, but loans require half-time status.
Disbursements & Refunds
Students generally receive their financial aid check by mail from the Solutions Center. Disbursement is after classes begin and as soon as aid is available.
First Time Borrowers
First-time Direct Loan borrowers must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at studentaid.gov.
Tuition & Billing
Tuition and fees are due by the University’s published payment deadlines. If you have questions, please contact the Solutions Center at [email protected].
