The University of Lynchburg’s Beard Center on Aging has partnered with Centra Health PACE — Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly — to present the Healthy Living Expo on Saturday, April 25, at River Ridge shopping center in Lynchburg.

The inaugural event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the area outside T.J. Maxx from 10 a.m. to noon.

According to Joseph Lugo, director of the Beard Center on Aging, the expo will include 35 to 40 “local and trusted senior service providers,” among them healthcare organizations like Centra, AARP, legal experts, housing providers, funeral and end-of-life planning services, and more.

There will also be free Chick-fil-A lunch vouchers for the first 100 participants and hourly raffles.

“The Beard Center on Aging is thrilled at the opportunity to partner with Centra PACE for the Healthy Aging Expo, bringing together valuable resources and expertise to support Lynchburg-area seniors, families, and caregivers,” Lugo said.

“This initiative builds on Centra’s commitment to community wellness, geriatric services, and broad health access, and it aligns closely with the Beard Center on Aging’s priorities in elder education, caregiver support, and promoting active aging.”

He added that the Beard Center has a history of similar events, including the 2022 Passport to Healthy Aging fair, which was also held at River Ridge and was co-sponsored by Centra and others.

“Attendees can expect a welcoming, informative environment, with dozens of exhibitors [and] fun perks like raffles and complimentary lunches for early arrivals,” Lugo said. “It’s a fantastic platform to promote active, healthy aging in our community.”
