It may have been a happy accident or, perhaps, a shared “love of learning” that brought Dr. Kathryn Mitchell Pumphrey ’75, ’88 MEd and Richard Pumphrey ’74 together one Sunday night nearly 50 years ago.

The University of Lynchburg art department and Daura Museum of Art will host a night of art on campus from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18. Admission is free and the public is invited.
The University of Lynchburg will honor its U.S. military veterans with a concert, “Duty, Honor, Country: An American Salute,” on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 11 and 12. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Schewel Hall’s Sydnor Performance Hall. Tickets are free, but required for admission.
There’s a little something for everyone on the University of Lynchburg’s music department offerings this fall.
The University of Lynchburg’s fall theater season opens Thursday, Sept. 16, with “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” performed on the Dillard Fine Arts Center main stage. Additional performances will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, and Sunday, Sept. 19.
Not long before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Christopher Badgett ’13 and his mother had planned to see “The Color Purple” together. The popular musical, based on a novel by Alice Walker and a 1985 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, is one of Badgett’s favorites. So is one of its musical numbers, “I’m Here.”
In July, the University of Lynchburg will host the Summer Festival, a monthlong series of events presented by Endstation Theatre Company.
