The University of Lynchburg has hired a new director of financial aid. Melena Verity brings more than 20 years of experience in the field. Most recently, she overhauled the financial aid process at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
The University of Lynchburg is once again noted among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges. Lynchburg’s 2022 rankings include a 21st spot among regional universities in the South — up one from last year — and a 23rd place for Best Value in that category. Among Best Colleges for Veterans, Lynchburg ranked No. 35 and on the Top Performers on Social Mobility list, the University ranked 62nd. Lynchburg also was included on a new list that ranks the best Undergraduate Nursing Programs in the country.
The University of Lynchburg today announced that it will lower tuition for Fall 2021-22 from about $54,000 to a total price tag of just under $46,000. Factoring in the institution’s generous financial aid and scholarships, students will pay about $24,000 a year on average, which compares with most public universities in Virginia.
The University of Lynchburg has joined Coalition for College, a diverse group of more than 150 public and private colleges and universities across the U.S. working to improve college access for first-generation and lower-income students.

University of Lynchburg is revolutionizing the way it prepares teachers for the classroom with a one-of-a-kind program that starts in the fall of 2019. The Teacher-Scholar program, part of the College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling, will accept its first cohort next fall as part of a completely restructured teacher-candidate preparation program at Lynchburg.
