Student Transition Program

Program Overview

The Student Transition Program equips newly enrolled students with the tools, relationships, and confidence necessary to successfully transition from high school to university life — particularly those who may face additional challenges navigating the college experience. While STP is open to all incoming students, the following students are highly encouraged to participate:

First generation college students

BIPOC students (Black, Indigenous, persons of color)

Pell Grant eligible

Neurodivergent

Students feeling unsure about their transition to university

How STP Works

All incoming students participate in Hornet Days, our required welcome and onboarding experience for new students. STP is an optional, additional program that takes your experience a step further. STP is built into Hornet Days, meaning you’ll still participate in the larger Hornet Days activities and traditions with all incoming students, while also being part of a smaller STP cohort with tailored sessions, added support, and opportunities to build meaningful connections.

Think of STP as getting the full Hornet Days experience plus a smaller community and additional support designed to help you start strong.

Eligibility

Participation in STP is first come, first served as spaces are limited. Registration will close on Friday, July 24, 2026, but registration may close earlier if all spots are filled.
