In advance of Election Day, the University of Lynchburg’s Bonner Leader Program will partner with local nonprofit The Listening to host a panel discussion with Lynchburg City Council candidates.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Hall Campus Center’s Memorial Ballroom. The panel discussion will be facilitated by Angelina Randolph and Keaira Reese, co-directors of The Listening.
Candidates attending, thus far, include Stephanie Reed, Patrick Earl, and current Lynchburg City Council members Beau Wright and Treney Tweedy, who are seeking re-election. It’s possible that additional candidates may commit before the event.
“The Center for Community Engagement and the Bonner Leader Program seek to bring awareness to all of our students, faculty, and staff about their civic responsibility to be a part of the democratic process — i.e. voting, activism, awareness of issues,” Cindy Ferguson ’16 MEd, director of Lynchburg’s Center for Community Engagement, said.
“This event gives them an opportunity to see and hear from local candidates about the local issues and where each candidate stands on those issues.”
