The biomedical science major from Chesapeake, Virginia, earned a spot in the competition when she was crowned Miss Central Virginia in March. If Shedd wins in Roanoke, she will compete for the title of Miss America in Orlando, Florida, in January.

This isn’t Shedd’s first trip to Miss Virginia. In 2024, she competed as Miss Lynchburg, placing third runner-up. In 2023, representing the Shenandoah Valley, she was second runner-up in Miss Virginia Teen. She also has represented Virginia Beach, Hanover, and Chesapeake in the teen pageant.

Shedd’s Miss Virginia platform is “Project HOPE: Striving to Provide Equitable Healthcare to All.” Partnering with Project HOPE, an international organization that helps provide quality healthcare to underserved communities, Shedd speaks with schoolchildren, school boards, and politicians about increasing opportunities for careers in medicine.

For the talent portion of the pageant, she will play the cello.

After graduating from Lynchburg, Shedd plans to pursue a graduate degree in PA medicine.
