Stephen Kidd, executive director of the National Humanities Alliance, will give a lecture at the University of Lynchburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27.
The lecture, which concerns successful initiatives to boost enrollment in the humanities on college campuses, will be held in Hall Campus Center’s Memorial Ballroom. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Kidd has previously worked as director of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and the Smithsonian Institute’s “Museum without Walls,” and he oversaw the development of various other research-based exhibitions.
The NHA is a national coalition of educators and advocates dedicated to advancing the humanities on and off campus. They strive to bolster enrollment in the humanities and increase funding and public engagement.
In the lecture, Kidd will talk about the NHA’s many years of research and give a distilled overview of successful practices they have implemented.
The event is sponsored by the John M. Turner Endowment. For more information, contact Dr. Robin Bates, professor of English, at [email protected] or 434.851.6624.
