Halfway through his summer archaeology field school in Maryland, Luke Wyatt ’25 had a bit of an epiphany. “I was not expecting to enjoy the actual field work and excavation as much as I have,” the liberal studies major said in June.
Latin professor translates Renaissance-era folios for exhibit
A couple of years ago, Dr. Barbara Rothermel, director of the Daura Gallery, bought more than 60 Renaissance-era folios — basically 16th- and 17th-century book pages — from a print dealer in England. After buying the folios, a purchase made possible by the Friends of the Daura Gallery, Dr. Rothermel needed someone to translate them from the original Latin, French, and German to English.
