Today is my first blog post as president, and I look forward to ongoing conversations with you about what matters most in our lives at the University of Lynchburg and in the greater community.
Today is Friday and on Fridays we wear Red!
Today is National Purple Heart Day. Today we remember and honor our veterans and what they give to us and our country — red and purple go well together, so wear both with pride!
Today is the first day of coming home to Lynchburg for so many young people. It is exciting, and scary, and very different than we imagined.
Today we step forward and live our lives in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Today we stand together to create opportunities for success for all by using our time, our talent, our networks, and our treasure in support of our students, faculty, staff and community. Why? Because we are a liberal arts university that is in the business of changing lives.
Today, and every day, it’s a great day to be a Hornet!
Dr. Alison Morrison-Shetlar is the 11th president of the University of Lynchburg. She began her term on Aug. 1, 2020. Red Chair Reflections lets her share her thoughts on what it’s like to serve the Lynchburg community — both on and off campus.
