Quincy White ’28, a member of the University of Lynchburg’s men’s lacrosse team, will play in the 2025 Men’s U20 World Lacrosse Championship, to be held Aug. 15-24 on Jeju Island, South Korea.

The business administration major, who played high school lacrosse for The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, will play for Team Jamaica. White’s paternal grandmother and grandfather were born in Jamaica, which makes him eligible to represent his ancestral homeland in the championship.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Quincy … to play for Team Jamaica,” said Steve Koudelka, longtime head coach of Lynchburg’s men’s lacrosse team. “Being able to travel the world, playing the game you love is such an amazing experience.

“We wish Quincy the very best and will be rooting him on from Lynchburg.”

After a training camp in Los Angeles, the Jamaican team — which also includes White’s brother, who plays lacrosse at Dickinson College — will fly to South Korea. Their first game, against England, is at noon on Friday, Aug. 15.

Subsequent first-round games will be played against Korea on Saturday, Aug. 19, and New Zealand, on Thursday, Aug. 19. Playoffs begin on Wednesday, Aug. 20. The complete tournament schedule can be found here.

“One of the cool parts about [playing] Korea and the tournament being played in South Korea is that I’m half Korean as well,” White said. “My mom was born in Seoul and has always wanted us to visit.

“I’m most looking forward to representing my heritage and getting to see the other half of my heritage. This is only the second time I’ve been out of the country as well. I’m also excited to have this experience with my mom, who hasn’t been able to go back to Korea since she was born.”

White will play two-way midfielder — offense and defense — for the Jamaican team. At Lynchburg, he’s a short-stick defensive midfielder.

“I love playing for Coach Koudelka,” White said. “He always pushed me to be my best on the field and in the classroom. One of the biggest reasons why I chose Lynchburg was because of Coach Koudelka.

“He’s a coach and a father figure to me at school. I feel that I can go talk to Coach Koudelka anytime and about anything.”
