The PRSA-Blue Ridge Chapter: PRSSA Retreat was held at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, in Roanoke, Virginia.

At the meeting, the Lynchburg and VT students talked about their organizations and upcoming activities on their respective campuses. They also heard presentations from members of the PRSA-Blue Ridge Chapter about personal branding, search engine optimization, and user-experience, or UX, writing.

The students also networked with PRSA members from local communication agencies, educational institutions, and nonprofits.

Lynchburg’s PRSSA executive board consists of Jamila Jones ’25, Ellie Simmers ’27, and Penny Ayala ’27. The group was accompanied by Dr. Jeremy Langett, professor of communication arts and PRSSA faculty advisor.

The PRSSA retreat inspires students to not only consider their short-term chapter programming but also to learn about the vast career options a background in public relations can provide,” Langett said.

The University of Lynchburg PRSSA chapter is a student-managed, preprofessional organization that’s open to all students interested in strategic communication and public relations.
