Student Employment

Student Employment Program

The Student Employment Program provides students with meaningful work experiences, opportunities to learn valuable skills, and income to help with costs associated with college.

Priority in job placement is given to students who are eligible for work through the Federal Work-Study program, but jobs are available to all students.

Federal Work-Study Program

The Federal Work-Study Program is a federally-funded Title IV financial aid program. It helps students earn money to meet educational costs while providing experience relating to their major or career interests.

  • Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for the Federal Work-Study program.
  • The Federal Work-Study award is included in a student’s financial aid package and is based on financial need and satisfactory academic progress.
  • Students eligible for Federal Work-Study are given priority in consideration for campus employment.
  • Students are paid by check biweekly.

Tips and Tricks to Student Employment

  • Full-time students receiving a work-study award as part of their financial package (who do not currently hold a work-study position).
  • Full-time students not receiving a federal work-study award (who do not currently hold a work-study position).
  • Part-time students (who do not currently hold a work-study position).
  • Adult (students 25 years and older) and graduate students.
  • Once you’ve completed an application, you will receive updates concerning vacancies via email with the subject line: “Student Employment Opportunity.”
  • Apply for multiple positions. Continue to apply for positions until you receive a job offer – it is not unusual for one student to apply for 10 positions.
  • Make sure that your contact information is updated on your application.
  • Apply for positions within the first 24 hours of receiving an email about the posted position.
  • Be proactive. Once you have received a confirmation email that your application has been sent to the hiring department, feel free to email them.
  • Respond to calls or emails for interviews immediately. If you do not respond within two working days, employing departments may move on to other candidates.
  • Prepare for the interview and dress appropriately.
  • Not all students may be contacted or interviewed. The hiring department will select which applicants they will contact and interview.
