The University of Lynchburg has been reaccredited by the National Association of Schools of Music until the 2030-31 academic year.
The University of Lynchburg will enter into a formal partnership with the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, Aug. 25. The agreement, to be signed on the University campus that afternoon, will be followed by a 7 p.m. performance of LSO’s Big Band.
The University of Lynchburg has been awarded the 2020 Collegiate Chapter of Excellence Recognition in the Professional Development category by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
While the COVID-19 pandemic imposed many restrictions on how the University of Lynchburg operates, it also opened up opportunities for student professional development in music education.
Shortly after graduating from the University of Lynchburg this Saturday, Renee Banks and Endasia Mitchell will head off for careers in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Pianist Dr. Ray Luck will perform a concert in the University of Lynchburg’s Sydnor Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28. The concert is free and open to the public.
On a recent Friday morning, Sydnor Performance Hall was literally drumming with excitement. It was “Orff Day” and about two dozen Campbell County fourth- and fifth-graders and their teachers were at the University of Lynchburg for a day of musical exploration.

Lynchburg College has received the 2018 Chapter of Excellence Award for Service from the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). The NAfME, described as “one of the world’s largest arts education organizations,” oversees the Virginia Music Educators Association and its collegiate arm, the CoVMEA. Students and faculty at Lynchburg are members of those organizations.
