Fall 2023
University of Lynchburg values on-campus living that exposes students to a variety of meaningful out-of-class learning opportunities.
Single, full-time first-year, sophomore, and junior students — other than those living at home with parents or their own children and students age 23 and older — are required to live in University of Lynchburg housing. All full-time undergraduate students are required to live on campus at the University of Lynchburg, with the following exceptions:
- Student lives with a parent or legal guardian
- Student is married
- Student is a single parent
- Student is over 23 years of age
- Student has 85+ earned credit hours and has been approved by the Office of Housing and Residence Life to reside off campus
If you’re a new student planning to live on campus you must complete the First-Year Housing Application (new first-year students) or the Transfer Housing Application (new transfer students). The application will help us match you with a roommate based on your lifestyle and preferences. To access the applications, log onto your Housing Portal and then click on the “Applications” tab. The corresponding application will be displayed based on first-year or transfer status.
First-Year Students
After submitting their housing application, first-year students can search for roommates through the Housing Portal. To do this, go to the Housing Portal, select “Room Selection,” and then choose “Select Roommates.” To be matched with a roommate, students must invite and accept each other in the system. Only students who have completed the housing application will appear in this process. We encourage all students to complete a Roommate Profile, located under the “Personal Information” tab, to enhance the roommate search function.
The First-Year Housing Application is due June 19, 2023. First-year student roommate requests are due June 30, 2023. Students who have not selected roommates by June 30, 2023, will be paired with a roommate by the Office of Housing and Residence Life and notified of roommate match no later than July 6, 2023.
New first-year students will select their housing assignments electronically through the Housing Portal on designated dates during the week of July 10-14, 2023. All incoming first-year students are placed in Montgomery and Tate Halls.
Transfer Students
The Transfer Housing Application is due July 28, 2023. Transfer students and other incoming students will be placed in one of our returning student residential facilities. The housing coordinator will utilize responses shared on the application to make assignments.
Housing and roommate assignments will be made available via the Housing Portal during the week of July 31, 2023.
Housing Accommodations
The University of Lynchburg accepts and considers requests for reasonable accommodations in campus housing at any time. Individuals requesting accommodations should complete and provide the Disability Accommodations Request Form for University Housing as soon as possible before moving into campus housing.
However, if the accommodation request is made fewer than 60 days before the individual intends to move into University housing, the University of Lynchburg cannot guarantee it will be able to meet the individual’s accommodation needs during the first semester or term of occupancy.
To be considered for housing accommodations, students must apply for housing accommodations through the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources. This can be a lengthy process, so students will want to review these guidelines and begin the process as soon as possible. The priority deadline for new incoming first-year or transfer students to apply for housing accommodations is July 5, 2023.
