What giving methods do you accept?

The University of Lynchburg offers several convenient methods for designating your gift to support various aspects of the University. You can choose the method that best suits you to make a lasting impact.

Here are the accepted giving methods:

  • Online Donations: You can easily donate to the University online.
  • Cash, Check, or Card: These are accepted methods of giving.
    • By Check: To make a gift by check, ensure it is made out to “University of Lynchburg.” Add the specific fund you wish to support to the memo line, and mail the check to: University of Lynchburg, Office of Advancement, 1501 Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501. If giving for an event like GiveDay, you can write “GiveDay” in the memo.
  • By Phone: You can make a gift by calling 434.544.8665. Gifts made by phone are accepted and counted for initiatives like GiveDay.
  • Planned Giving: This involves including the University of Lynchburg in your estate plans, such as your will, trust, or as a beneficiary of retirement plans and life insurance policies. Creating an endowment after your estate is settled can provide a lasting legacy, offering annual gifts that support the University. These gifts may qualify for a charitable tax deduction and membership in the Hopwood Society.
    • FreeWill: Our intuitive online tool, FreeWill, can help you quickly draft your will or trust. The draft can be completed in about 20 minutes online, and you can then finalize it with your attorney. If you’ve already included the University in your estate plan, you are encouraged to fill out a form to inform them.
    • Non-Probate Assets: You can designate assets like IRAs, 401(k)s, or life insurance policies, which are not covered by your will, to the University using online tools.
