  • Love Heals benefit concert featuring Oceanic

    Join Love Heals at the University of Lynchburg for a benefit concert featuring indie pop band Oceanic, with Central Virginia indie rock band Catapult City opening the evening. The concert will take place Friday, Sept. 4, on the Dell in front of Hopwood Hall. Gates open at 6 p.m., and music begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, and donations are encouraged. All donations and a percentage of concessions proceeds will benefit Lynchburg Cares, the University of Lynchburg’s crisis fund, which has helped members of the University community through unexpected financial emergencies since 2009.. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. A clear bag policy will be in effect. Hosted by Lynchburg-based nonprofit Love Heals, the event brings the community together for an evening of live music while supporting University community members when they need it most.   • Service Saturday Sign Making for VA 10 Miler

    Join us for the FIRST Service Saturday of the Fall 2026 semester. Miriam's House, a local non-profit that aims to end homelessness in our city, is responsible for securing volunteers along a crucial section of the race route. This volunteer event supports the work Miriam's House does in our community and supports the race team for a historical race in our community. We'll gather in the Mosaic Lounge (Schewel 231) to make encouraging signs for the VA 10 Miler runners, VA 4 Miler runners and walkers. Supplies, markers, and community will be provided. Join us for a creative way to support a fun community event.

    Dr. Melanie Trexleer, Associate Professor of Religion, Roanoke College, will "explore why civic and religious pluralism matters now and what it requires of us as citizens and neighbors," focus "on the practice of active listening," and examine "how cirisity and genuine attention create opportunities to learn from people with those experiences and perspectives differ from our own."
