Call Me MISTER Program
Call Me MISTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) is a competitive program aimed at increasing the number of qualified teachers from diverse, underserved backgrounds. It offers a $5,000 renewable scholarship and prepares participants for teaching careers in low-performing pre-K-12 schools.
Admitted University of Lynchburg students can join as first-years or transfers. MISTERs must major in one of the teacher preparation programs and work closely with faculty and pre-K-12 teachers. The program promotes servant leadership, professional development, and community service. Benefits include leadership training, mentorship, academic support, and a strong peer network. Living in the on-campus community is encouraged but not required.
