To discuss facility rental or the donation of works of art or artifacts, contact the Director. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the photography and video policy?
Photography and video at the Daura Museum are not permitted unless by prior arrangement. Please contact the Director to discuss your requests.
What exhibition opportunities are available?
Exhibition proposals are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Please submit an exhibition proposal, including work samples, slides, CDs, or other support materials; include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you would like your materials returned.
Does the Museum offer appraisals or valuation services?
The Daura Museum does not provide valuations for works of art or artifacts. It is recommended that you obtain valuations from reputable sources such as the American Society of Appraisers (www.appraisers.org), Appraisers Association of America (www.appraisersassoc.org), International Society of Appraisers (www.isa-appraisers.org), Art Dealers Association of America (www.artdealers.org), International Fine Art Appraisers (www.ifaacertified.com), National Institute of Appraisers (www.appraiseroffineart.com), Private Art Dealers Association (www.pada.net), or at major auction houses.
Does the Museum do conservation?
The Daura Museum does not do in-house conservation of artworks. It is recommended that you use accredited conservators, that you request a full evaluation of conservation treatment and itemized costs in advance of any actual work, and that no work is done without your written authorization. The American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIP) is a national organization which registers conservation professionals. The organization provides a free guide to conservation services on its website (http://aic.stanford.edu/).
Does the Museum accept donations of art and artifacts?
The Daura Museum accepts donated works of art and artifacts for accessioning into the permanent collection. All potential donations are assessed against our Collection Policy to determine their suitability. Please contact the Director if you have any queries or wish to donate a work.
Does the Museum sell any works?
The museum is a not-for-profit institution that does not sell works of art. Occasionally, the Daura Museum exhibits works of art that are for sale by individual artists; purchases from such exhibitions are direct transactions between the artist and the buyer.
Is reproduction permitted?
All text and images published on this website are for personal and/or educational use only and must be fully credited. Any commercial use or publication is strictly prohibited without written permission; a usage fee is charged for commercial use or publication. For information concerning images for publishing and/or commercial use, contact the Director.
Is there disabled access?
The Daura Museum provides disabled access via an elevator between the main galleries and the Dillard Lobby Museum.
May I sketch in the Museum?
Sketching with pencils and paper is permitted in the museum. Use of all other materials is not permitted unless by prior arrangement with curatorial staff.
Where can I put my personal belongings during my visit?
All backpacks, large umbrellas, strollers, and bags and packages larger than 16 x 16 inches must be left at the coat rack outside the main galleries.
Are food and beverages permitted?
Food and drinks are not permitted in the Daura Museum unless served at a reception or event. All food and beverages must be consumed in the Museum where served.
Can I get art for my office?
Loans of unaccessioned or deaccessioned works of art are available to faculty and staff for campus offices and conference rooms. Due to limited staff and heavy workloads, campus loans are not available on a regular basis. Notice of campus loans will be sent to all faculty and staff via email when loans become available. Loans are not available for personal use off-campus.
