The Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra’s Big Band will perform at the University of Lynchburg at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 27. The concert, to be held in Hall Campus Center’s Memorial Ballroom, celebrates the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day and will feature World War II-era swing music performed by a 16-piece band and vocalist.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.

The University has a partnership agreement with the LSO. It was LSO’s 2024-25 Season Presenting Sponsor and just signed on to sponsor the 2025-26 season. Under a memorandum of understanding, the University provides storage, rehearsal, and performance spaces for the LSO and its Lynchburg Symphony Youth Orchestra.
In return, the University receives marketing benefits and exposure to talent local students who will someday apply to colleges.
“[We’re] excited to perform on the University of Lynchburg campus this summer,” said Ula Kauppi ’25 MA, the LSO’s executive director. “This event is just one of many ways that the LSO and the University partner to advance music appreciation in our community.
“We are thankful for the University of Lynchburg, who provides financial support and rehearsal facilities for the LSO and the Lynchburg Symphony Youth Orchestra throughout the year.”
Wine, soft drinks, and snacks will be available for purchase at the concert and the dress code has been described as “smart casual” — sundresses, collared shirts, etc., with no jackets required.
