The University of Lynchburg has updated its Doctor of Executive Leadership program, expanding concentration areas beyond healthcare to better serve leaders across a wide range of industries. The revised DEL now includes concentrations in corporate leadership, ethics of artificial intelligence and technology, and government and public leadership.

The DEL is a leadership doctorate designed for professionals who want to strengthen decision-making and leadership performance. The expanded structure reflects the University’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of today’s leaders in business, public service, and technology.

Dr. Lynette Reina ʼ24 EdD, program director for the Doctor of Executive Leadership, sees wide-reaching potential in the revised DEL. While the program was initially designed to meet the leadership development needs of healthcare providers and administrators, the updated model supports leaders across multiple disciplines and professions.

“I [see] a lot of potential within the program,” Reina said. “There are leaders everywhere, not just in healthcare.”

Dr. Mac Duis, associate program director for the DEL and program director of Lynchburg’s Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies, supported the DEL’s evolution by contributing to updates in the program’s curriculum and the introduction of the new concentration options.

“I’m grateful to be part of the DEL team,” Duis said. “Expanding the program beyond healthcare reflects what I’ve often talked about in our other programs: Leadership challenges aren’t limited to one sector, and students across sectors learning together makes them all better leaders.”
