The University of Lynchburg has been included in The Princeton Review’s “391 Best Colleges.”

The annual survey brings together “results from over 170,000 students across the country to find out what they love the most about these schools in everything from financial aid and career services to sustainability and quality of life.”

In the category of academics, Lynchburg was described as “the perfect level of challenge and excitement.”

“I have been given nothing but support and encouragement throughout my time [at Lynchburg],” one surveyed student wrote.

Another student wrote, “I wasn’t very successful academically in high school, but I have done extremely well in college. I would attribute that to the professors.”

On the survey, Lynchburg scored 83/99 for academics, 91/99 for financial aid, 91/99 for interesting professors, 94/99 for accessible professors, and 91/99 for quality of life, which measured “how happy students are with their lives outside the classroom.”

At Lynchburg, the survey found, clubs and extracurricular activities are well attended and most students are involved in two or more campus organizations, with “nearly 1 in 5 students [being] involved in Greek life.”

The survey also highlighted off-campus activities, noting, “Students say they can ‘always fill any free time … exploring the city of Lynchburg’” and “‘the restaurants and bars … are absolutely amazing.’”

Those surveyed also commented about the University’s “welcoming Southern hospitality” where students “hold the door for you and give you a sincere smile” on the way to class.

“If someone is not able to help you with a homework question or a project, then they will find you someone that can,” one student wrote. “It does feel like one giant family here.”
