Biography:
Katie has dedicated decades to the nursing profession in diverse areas of patient care. This broad background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of patient needs across a wide spectrum of health conditions.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a mother of four. This experience has enhanced her already deep sense of nurturing and caregiving. She finds particular joy in working with college students, a population with which she connects on a personal level. As she puts it, “taking care of college students is like finally getting paid to be a mother.” Here at the University, she embodies this sentiment in her commitment to the health, overall success, and well-being of the young adults she serves at HornetCare.
Job Responsibilities:
1. To support the health, learning, and higher education experience of the University of Lynchburg students by providing ambulatory health care within the scope of professional Registered Nursing practice.
2. Remove health-related barriers to learning, promoting optimal wellness, and helping students make informed health decisions, while advocating for their healthcare needs.
3. Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care that is evidence-based and diverse.
4. Provide first aid and crisis intervention to students.
5. Provide health education to students individually and offer appropriate health education to groups as needed.
