Biography: Dr. Hatcher is a professor of music and was named dean of the School of Communication and the Arts at the University of Lynchburg in 2011. In 2002, she was named chair of the Music Department and serves as the instrumental conductor at the College, making her the first full-time faculty member to hold this position.
She conducts the Wind Symphony and Orchestra. Dr. Hatcher also serves as director of music at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dr. Hatcher earned her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music in Education from Shenandoah Conservatory, a school of Shenandoah University, and her Bachelor of Music from Clearwater Christian College. Prior to her appointment at the University of Lynchburg, she served as choral and instrumental director in secondary education.
Dr. Hatcher maintains an active schedule as guest conductor, clinician, and guest lecturer at the public school and University levels. Her research in computer-based multimedia for college-level instrumental methods courses has led to presentations throughout the United States and Europe.
