Biography
Dr. Jessie Hockett, ’24 DMSc, PA-C, is an Internal Medicine PA, board-certified in Disaster Medicine, with 14 years of clinical experience. A background in urgent care, internal medicine, family medicine, orthopedic neurosurgery, and wilderness medicine exemplifies her passion for providing quality care to diverse populations in various settings. While continuing to practice clinically, she is committed to furthering PA education in an academic role.
Dr. Hockett graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Pacific University in 2011. In July 2024, she earned a Doctor of Medical Science Degree (DMSc) in Emergency Management and Global Health from the University of Lynchburg. She was awarded board certification with the International Board of Disaster Medicine (IBODM). She is Wilderness Medicine trained with an active WALS certification.
Dr. Hockett is a current member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA), the Central Texas Physician Assistant Society (CTPAS), and PAs for Women Empowerment. She volunteers with the Austin-Travis County Medical Reserve Corps (ATCMRC) and has special interests in austere and wilderness medicine, as well as global and environmental health. She lives in Austin, TX with her family. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, nature, photography, volleyball, music, and quality time over meals with friends and family.
