Filming for “Lynchburg At War” continues from 1-6 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 24.
The hourlong docudrama tells the story of what the citizens of Lynchburg experienced during the Civil War. It’s written and directed by Greg Starbuck ’14 MA, ’19 MA, executive director of Historic Sandusky, a house museum owned and operated by the University of Lynchburg.
The film is produced by Historic Sandusky and co-produced by Lionheart Filmworks and Chloe Shelton Films.
Saturday’s scenes will be shot in a historic warehouse located at 612 12th Street in downtown Lynchburg.
Scenes include those depicting the Lynchburg musket repair facility, a “bawdy house” in the Buzzard’s Roost district of Lynchburg, and the Lone Jack tobacco factory. The warehouse where filming will take place is the original Lone Jack tobacco factory building.
“Lynchburg At War” is a follow-up of sorts to “Hunter’s Raid: Defending Hearth & Home.”
Starbuck directed that Civil War documentary, produced by the Historic Sandusky Foundation, in 2010. It was sold on DVD, aired at least 50 times on public TV stations nationwide, won three regional Emmys, and raised $60,000 for Historic Sandusky.
“Lynchburg At War” will premiere at the Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.
In the event of inclement weather, filming will be postponed until next Saturday, Jan. 31.
