During Commencement, nearby accommodations may be difficult to find. Make sure to book well in advance. Discover Lynchburg provides a comprehensive list of hotel and lodging options. You’ll also find a calendar of local events and information about historical places of interest and dining and shopping options.
Guest parking will be available in and around campus on a first-come-first-served basis. Campus Safety and Security will be directing traffic on both Commencement days, guiding guests to available parking. The main entrance of the University will serve as the point of entry for all parking, including accessible parking and drop offs. There will be signage, volunteers and security personnel available for guidance.
A drop-off area for accessible seating will be available until 5:45 p.m. in the Turner parking lot, in front of the doors to Turner Gym, where an elevator can be taken to the 3rd floor gymnasium. Accessible parking will be available in the Turner lot, in spaces near the same doors to Turner.
A drop-off area for accessible seating will be available until 8:45 a.m. Accessible parking lots are located near Carnegie Hall, Hopwood Hall, and the Psychology Building, and drop off is also available at Dillard Circle.
Once parking capacity has been reached on campus, the main entrance to the University will remain open only for accessible drop off and VIP. All other traffic will be routed to the intersection of Lakeside Drive and College Drive. Security personnel and signage will provide direction to the Hornet lot (the old Thomas Road Baptist Church lot – 701 Thomas Road).
