- Handicapped parking is available in designated spaces in the Snidow Chapel parking lot as well as adjacent to Schewel Hall for individuals who have a handicapped parking permit or license plate.
- Visitors with limited mobility without a handicapped permit have the option to drop off family members and park in other locations on campus.
- The Chapel has accessible bathrooms.
Shellenberger Field
Undergraduate Ceremony; Doctor of Medical Science
- Parking for individuals with disabilities or limited mobility is available close to Shellenberger Field. Guests should enter campus through the main entrance off of Lakeside Drive. Security will provide directions to the reserved accessible parking area which is near Westover Hall. A handicapped parking permit or license plate is not required.
- Should the designated parking area fill up, visitors may still drop off family members at this accessible entrance and park elsewhere on campus.
- Signage and guides will be available at the entrance to Westover Hall on the first floor. Visitors will enter Westover Hall, use the elevator to the 2nd floor, and walk down a short hall to Shellenberger Field. No reservation is necessary.
- Seating on the field is not reserved.
- Accessible bathroom facilities will be available in both Westover Hall and Turner Gymnasium.
- There is moderate walking required to access the field and bathroom facilities.
- All Commencement seating on Shellenberger Field is in full sun. Umbrellas are not allowed. Indoor air-conditioned space is available in Turner Gymnasium after the ceremony has started. (Turner is the student check-in location.). A large viewing screen is provided.
Turner Gymnasium
Doctor of Physical Therapy; Master’s Degrees
- The accessible entrance to the gym is from the Turner Gym parking lot level. Guests should enter campus through the main entrance off of Lakeside Drive. Security will provide directions to the Turner Parking lot.
- Accessible parking is available in designated spaces for individuals who have a handicapped parking permit or license plate. Alternatively, guests may drop off family members at this accessible entrance and park elsewhere on campus.
- Guests may use the elevator (entrance to the right of the main entrance). Guides will be available at this entrance and at the gym level to assist with seating.
- Seating will be available on the floor level. Additionally, the floor level of the bleachers will be designated for accessible seating.
- An area at the back of the guest seating area will be left open for individuals who are wheelchair users, closest to the accessible bathroom facilities. Alternatively, individuals may ask a volunteer to remove chairs at the end of a row for wheelchair or rollator walker seating.
- Accessible bathroom facilities are available in the foyer of the gymnasium.
Sydnor Performance Hall
Doctor of Education
- Handicapped parking is available in designated spaces of the Schewel Hall parking lot as well as adjacent to Snidow Chapel for individuals who have a handicapped parking permit or license plate.
- Visitors with limited mobility without a handicapped permit have the option to drop off family members and park in other locations on campus.
- Schewel Hall has accessible bathrooms.
Captions and Sign Language Interpreters
- Captions will be provided for all Commencement Ceremonies, indoor alternative viewing locations, and online
- Sign Language Interpreters (ASL) will be provided for the Baccalaureate and all Commencement Ceremonies. Individuals who require ASL should contact the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources as soon as possible to arrange for proximity seating. Requests for interpreters for any other commencement events must be made no later than April 1, 2024, at 5 p.m. to ensure availability for the event.
