Snidow Chapel
Baccalaureate
- There are handicapped parking spaces available in the Snidow Chapel parking lot and next to Schewel Hall. If you have a handicapped parking permit or license plate, you can use these spaces.
- Visitors who have limited mobility and no handicapped permit can drop off their family members and park in other locations on campus.
- The Chapel has accessible bathrooms.
Shellenberger Field
Undergraduate, Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Hooding and Commencement, and Master’s Programs Commencement Ceremonies
- Parking for individuals with disabilities or limited mobility is available close to Shellenberger Field. Guests should come to the main campus entrance off of Lakeside Drive. Security will provide directions to the parking area which is near Westover Hall. A handicapped parking permit or license plate is not required.
- If the designated parking area is full, visitors can still drop off family members at this accessible entrance. They can then park elsewhere on campus.
- Signage and guides will be available at the entrance to Westover Hall on the first floor. Visitors will enter Westover Hall, use the elevator to the second floor, and walk a moderate distance down a hallway to Shellenberger field. No reservation is necessary.
- Seating on the field is not reserved.
- Accessible bathroom facilities will be available in both Westover Hall and Turner Gymnasium.
- There is moderate walking required to access the field and bathroom facilities.
- All Commencement seating on Shellenberger Field is in full sun. Umbrellas are not allowed. Indoor air-conditioned space is available in Turner Gymnasium. A large viewing screen is provided.
Turner Gymnasium
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Hooding and Commencement Ceremony
- The accessible entrance to the gym is from the Turner parking lot level. Guests should come to the main campus entrance off of Lakeside Drive. Security will provide directions to the parking area.
- Accessible parking is available in designated spaces for individuals who have a handicapped parking permit or license plate.
- Guests may use the elevator (to the right of the main entrance). Guides will be available at this entrance and at the gym level to assist with seating.
- Seating will be available on the floor level. Additionally, the floor level of the bleachers will be designated for accessible seating.
- The back of the guest seating area will be left open for individuals who are wheelchair users, closest to the accessible bathroom facilities. Or, individuals may ask a volunteer to remove chairs at the end of a row for wheelchair,rollator, or walker seating.
- Accessible bathroom facilities are available in the foyer of the gymnasium.
Sydnor Performance Hall, Schewel Hall
Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies (EdD)
- There is accessible parking available in the Snidow Chapel parking lot and next to Schewel Hall. If you have a handicapped parking permit or license plate, you can use these spaces.
- Visitors who have limited mobility and no handicapped permit can drop off their family members and park in other locations on campus.
- The entrance to Schewel Hall is from the Dell-side. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available on the front row of seats or on the wings of the Performance Hall seating.
- Accessible restrooms are available across the hallway from the venue.
Captions and Sign Language Interpreters
- There will be captions for all Commencement ceremonies, indoor alternative viewing locations, and online.
- Sign Language Interpreters (ASL) will be provided for Baccalaureate and all Commencement ceremonies. If you need a sign language interpreter for the ceremonies, please contact the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources as soon as possible. They will be able to help you get a seat near where the interpreter will be. If you need an interpreter for any other commencement events, please let us know by May 9th, 2022 at 5 p.m.
