Kelsey Spickler ’24, a Westover Honors Fellow from Bridgewater, Virginia, has been named the 2023-24 Richard Clarke Sommerville Scholar. The award, the University of Lynchburg’s highest academic honor, was presented on Nov. 13 at the West Room in Drysdale Student Center.

Elora Burchette ’26 has long been interested in forensic accounting and white-collar crime investigations. Her favorite television show is “American Greed,” a long-running documentary that shows “the dark side of the American Dream,” with true-to-life stories about credit card scams, Ponzi schemes, and other white-collar crimes. Along the way, she became even more interested in preventing white-collar crime.

Every year, Dr. Jimmy Roux gives out awards — think senior superlatives — to the students who go with him to New Orleans for his annual spring break service-learning trip.
