Westover, double major wins Hill Award
Alana Compton ’23 has been named the winner of the 2023 Robert L. Hill Distinguished Senior Award. The award, one of the University of Lynchburg’s highest honors for undergraduate students, was presented on Friday, April 14, during the annual academic awards ceremony.
Westover Fellow to teach English in Germany
A University of Lynchburg history major and Westover Honors Fellow has been awarded a grant through the U.S. Fulbright Student Program to teach English in Germany. Rick Smallshaw ’23, a Lynchburg, Virginia, resident with minors in medieval and Renaissance studies and German, will leave for Germany in mid-September.
Lynchburg student named among 2023 Newman Civic Fellows
Westover Honors Fellow Kyle Thaller ’25 has been named to the 2023 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows by Campus Compact, a national coalition of colleges and universities. Thaller is one of 154 student civic leaders chosen from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico.
