When Laurie Haggerty Dolian ’73 heard about the Lynchburg Crisis Response Fund and its support for students, faculty, and staff, she knew she wanted to help. After all, she had once needed help, too. So on #GivingTuesdayNow, Laurie and her husband, Bob, gave a substantial amount to her alma mater.

On its first Give Day, Lynchburg College received gifts from 1,914 donors in 24 hours and raised more than $163,000 to support student scholarships, athletic programs, faculty research, and other needs. “Your confidence in the College and passion for the LC experience – along with your generosity – are the best investments in our future,” President Kenneth Garren said in an email to supporters.
