The religious studies minor at Lynchburg is an interdisciplinary program that encourages a broad understanding of religion and its influence on various aspects of human society, culture, and personal identity. The program offers a holistic view of a wide array of religious traditions, their scriptures, practices, and ethical systems, while focusing on the analytical and interpretive skills necessary for the academic study of religion.
With this minor, you’ll select subtopics, historic periods, and geographic regions that you want to focus your studies on, with courses like Religions of Asia, Old Testament, New Testament, or Comparative Religious Ethics. These courses will give you a comprehensive understanding of the scriptures, practices, and ethical systems of various religious traditions.
Further into the program, you’ll explore theological and ethical studies on a deeper level, with a choice of seminar courses on Islam or Asian religions, courses on contemporary religious thinkers, and more.
