Why do I need health insurance?
Health care is very expensive in the United States, and is not paid for by the government. Individuals are responsible for their medical costs unless they are covered by health insurance, and it is important that you have health insurance coverage effective as soon as possible after your arrival to protect your well-being. This insurance must meet institutional requirements and be eligible for use in the United States.
What are my options for health insurance policies?
To make things easier for you, the University has an institutional policy option to automatically enroll you in Accident and Illness Insurance Coverage. This will be automatically billed to you by Student Accounts and you will see this labeled as “insurance” on your student bill. Charges on student accounts will vary, depending on the plan you choose. Insurance rates for the 2022-23 are as follows. Please contact the Center for Global Education (global@lynchburg.edu) for any questions.
