Two University of Lynchburg students recently captured awards at the Western Virginia American Advertising Awards.
Amanda George ’17 and Taylor Haney ’16 each won a Silver Addy at the gala on February 27 in Roanoke.
Amanda was recognized for a photography campaign titled “The Helplessness of Mental Illness,” while Taylor’s winning entry was for The Wrench Girl Project, a website she made about women and girls who work on cars.
Their winning pieces are “dynamic, professional, and polished,” said Ursula Bryant, a graphic design professor. “Winning an ADDY not only gives a student bragging rights, but is truly a pinnacle moment that provides unforeseen and promising future opportunities. The competition for the American Advertising Awards has become increasingly fierce each year, so having two students winners this year really is a testament to their raw talent and success as designers.”
