Viewing of the film “Bag It” in Schewel 207, 5 p.m. “Bag It” shows how pervasive plastic bags, and all forms of plastic, have become, and what we can do about it. View the trailer.
Wednesday, April 24
Trip to the community market in Downtown Lynchburg. Students will ride a GLTC bus, leaving at 10:40 a.m. from the bus stop at the Lakeside Drive entrance to the College, returning before 2 p.m. All students, faculty, and staff ride the bus for free with an LC ID.
Thursday, April 25
Viewing of the film “Waste Land” in Schewel 207, 5 p.m. Filmed over nearly three years, WASTE LAND follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world’s largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. There he photographs an eclectic band of “catadores”—self-designated pickers of recyclable materials. View the trailer.
