This professorship was established in 1989 and awarded in 2000 through a bequest from Mrs. Geraldine Lyon Owen, Class of 1927, in memory of her family and in recognition of the services and sacrifices made to the College by Dr. and Mr. J.T.T. Hundley and their children. Mrs. Owen was born in Carroll County, Virginia, and taught English at the high school and college levels in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky. Income from the fund supports a master teacher/scholar in the English program. The length of appointment is presently three years.
