Master's Degree Programs

Application Deadlines

Summer term: May 1

Application Requirements

Submit the following by the application deadline for the term in which you intend to enroll. All materials must be received before your application will be considered.

  1. Online or paper master's degree application.
  2. Official transcript documenting receipt of a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association, and any other transcripts reflecting relevant college work.
  3. Three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your academic performance and/or work experience.
  4. $30 non-refundable application fee (not applied toward college expenses). The fee is waived for online applications.
  5. Personal essay outlining: 1) your motivation for pursuing a graduate degree, and 2) your career goals and how the graduate program will help meet those goals.
  6. Official GRE (GMAT for MBA applicants) scores. Score reports should be forwarded directly from the testing service to the Office of Enrollment Services. The GRE is not a requirement for admission to the MA in Music and may be waived for some MSN applicants.

Degree admission decisions are based on the careful consideration of all required admissions components. The focus of the admissions review is on an evaluation of an your likelihood of success in one of the College's graduate programs.

Second Master's Degree Programs

You may earn a second master's degree by satisfactorily fulfilling all course requirements for the second program and completing a minimum of 24 semester hours of graduate credit (36 and 42 hours for the school or clinical mental health counseling degrees, respectively) at LC.

You willl be subject to the graduate admissions requirements as listed above for master's degrees. If you intend to pursue the MA, MEd, MBA, or MSN as a second master’s degree, you may request a waiver of the GRE/GMAT requirement.

Application Requirements

  1. Online or paper graduate certificate application.
  2. Official transcripts from each college attended indicating all college coursework completed. Transcripts must have the official school seal and be sent directly to the Office of Enrollment Services from all the institutions you have previously attended.
  3. $30 non-refundable application fee (not applied toward college expenses). The fee is waived for online applications.

Acceptance as a graduate certificate student is limited to the certificate-specific classes. If you are interested in a degree program, consult the faculty certificate advisor to verify the credits that are applicable towards that degree.

Non-Degree Graduate Programs

You may apply as a non-degree student to take coursework for teacher licensure, counselor licensure, professional enrichment, or to transfer coursework to another institution. You may take up to six credits as a non-degree student.

Lynchburg College Senior Students

You may enroll as a non-degree graduate student and take up to six graduate credits within selected graduate programs in your final undergraduate semester (i.e., fall, spring, or summer) if you are registered in that semester for all remaining undergraduate degree requirements, as certified by the Office of the Registrar.
