Westover Fellow to teach English in Germany
A University of Lynchburg history major and Westover Honors Fellow has been awarded a grant through the U.S. Fulbright Student Program to teach English in Germany. Rick Smallshaw ’23, a Lynchburg, Virginia, resident with minors in medieval and Renaissance studies and German, will leave for Germany in mid-September.
Lynchburg student named among 2023 Newman Civic Fellows
Westover Honors Fellow Kyle Thaller ’25 has been named to the 2023 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows by Campus Compact, a national coalition of colleges and universities. Thaller is one of 154 student civic leaders chosen from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico.

Arts and sciences names new dean
The University of Lynchburg has named Dr. Sabita Manian dean of the Lynchburg College of Arts and Sciences. Manian, who is a professor of international relations and security studies, previously served as associate dean of the School of Social Sciences and will continue that post for the spring semester.
