The University of Lynchburg is one of 18 universities from across the eastern half of the U.S. that will be participating in the 12th annual Alumni Charity Challenge.
The competitive event, which collects food and funds for the Richmond-based nonprofit Feed More, will be held from 5–8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Richmond Kickers City Stadium. Lynchburg will have a tent, where advancement office staff will collect nonperishable food items and monetary donations.
“We’d love to see all of our Richmond-area alumni at Kickers City Stadium for the Alumni Charity Challenge, ” said Tom Burrowes ’93, ’21 MA, senior director of alumni and external engagement. “Stop by the tent, drop off some food, and wear your Hornet red. It’s a fun time for a good cause.”
The goal is for each university to raise at least $1,000 and for the event to collect a total of 200,000 pounds of food. Feed More then distributes the food to people in need across Central Virginia.
For more information or to make a monetary donation, visit the Alumni Charity Challenge website or the Lynchburg team page. Food donations also can be made on the second floor of Walker Alumni House through Wednesday, Sept. 11.
